A re-imagining of Frank Wedekind's 1891 play by the same name, Spring Awakening boldly depicts how young people navigate the thrilling, confusing and mysterious time of their sexual awakening. The story centers around a brilliant young student named Melchior, his troubled friend Moritz and Wendla, a beautiful young girl on the verge of womanhood.
With direction by Michael Mayer, Spring Awakening features John Gallagher Jr., Jonathan Groff and Lea Michele as its young stars as well as Christine Estabrook and Tony winner Stephen Spinella as the adult leads. Also in the cast are Skylar Astin, Lilli Cooper, Gideon Glick, Brian Johnson, Lauren Pritchard, Phoebe Strole, Jonathan B. Wright and Remy Zakan.
Spring Awakening starts performances November 16 and will open December 10.
